Obama’s Cairo speech was designed to appease the Islamic World, it did not. Overtures towards Ahmadinejad were turned down publicly, an outright humiliation of the United States ensued.
The Obama/Clinton foreign policy doctrine once again proves to be a sham. The Arab League, before the ink dried on Obama’s Middle East policy speech, refuted the American President by suggesting, that contrary to Obama’s desires, and clearly stated goals, the issue of sovereign Palestine will go before the United Nations!
Once and again President Obama continues to try diplomacy with the Islamic World, and once and again his efforts are rejected; when will the young American President realize that in spite of his Islamic birth, and exposure to Islam during his formative years, Muslims will not deal with him unless it is on their terms? Since Obama needs the Islamic World (its oil) more than the Islamic World needs him, the American President must find a better way to deal with Islam.
Continuing to supply Arab countries (with oil) with state-of-the-art weaponry, and offering words of appeasement will not get the Islamic World to befriend the United States. The Muslim world does not only reject Obama due to the United States relations with Israel; it rejects the United States because the view the only remaining “super power,” to be a paper tiger. The see President Obama use harsh words about Iran’s nuclear development, but take no credible action. The Arab World is concerned more about Iran’s nuke than it is worries about Israel existence. The issue with Israel has to do with ideology and theory, while the fear of Iran is about the obvious desire of Ahmadinejad and no less importantly, the Ayatollahs, to dominate the Islamic World. The Arab nations are particularly worried because Iranians are not Arabs, and Iran’s Islam is Shia, not the main-stream Sunni.
Concrete steps by the Obama Administration to eliminate Iran’s threat rather than rhetoric about diplomacy would go a long way towards improving the relations between the United States and the Arab World. If the Administration of Barak Obama can demonstrate its ability to use its “super-power,” to eliminate Iran’s threats, not only will the United States gain credibility, the volatile situation in the Middle East could be put under control.
The Obama Administration must cease to be a paper tiger and show that it can, and it is willing to use its “super-power,” to bring about more rational relations with the world, especially the Islamic World.
