Obama’s plea to Israel: Wait before unilaterally dealing with Iran! Biden’s mission with that message, DOA.

Leave a comment »With the rapidly growing chasm-of-trust between Obama’s Administration and the State of Israel, America’s President decided to send Vice President Biden to Israel to do his bidding. Since Vice President Biden has a favorable history with Israel and with the Jewish people, President Obama is trying to bridge the gap with Israel by sending a sympathetic emissary to Jerusalem.
In spite of Biden positive credentials, his most recent charge is extremely difficult. Since Iran has demonstrated once, and once again, that it does not respond to the international community, particularly not to the United States, expecting that Vice President Biden can convince the Israeli not to deal directly with the Iranian threat, does not represent rational thinking. Asking Israel to trust the United States to keep Israel safe from Iran is similar to asking Custer to deal with the Sioux Indians as friends…
Coming off a week when the Obama Administration admonished the State of Israel for declaring a number of important tombs, those of the three Jewish patriarchs, and of the Jewish matriarch, national monuments, and shortly after having President Obama put off the move of the United States Embassy to Jerusalem; sending Biden to Israel is like putting a slave in the lion’s den. Obama lack of religious sensitivities when it comes to Judaism is very much in contrast with bowing to the “King” of Saudi, and to the Japanese Emperor; and that attitude contribute to the “chasm-of-trust” that developed during Obama’s Administration.
Until and unless the United States can demonstrate that it can deal with the likes of Iran, the Obama Administration should not attempt to change Israel’s policy towards Iran, whatever it may be. Biden’s mission to Israel will fail, as it should; the trip to Jerusalem is a waste of United States tax payers money. Not even if Biden promises Israel, in secret, that the United States will be aggressive in dealing with Iran, could the Israelis take such commitment seriously based on recent history of United States behavior in the last year.
The United States may be able to advance Mid East peace talks, but with prevailing relations in the region, the United States is in no position to ensure the security of Israel, or any of its neighbors. As was demonstrated by Mubarak’s allowing Israel’s submarines through the Suez Canal, some of the key Arab states are counting om Israel, more than they do on the United States for holding Iran in check.
